Cadmium Accumulation in Some Organs of Mosquito Fish Gambusia holbrooki

چکیده
The cadmium contents in muscle, brain, gills, liver , intestine and testis from exposed control animals were determined by atomic absorption spectroscopy. experiments planned three series of a total 95 fish employing the static test method acute toxicity. Five fishes placed each concentrations sublethal (5, 15 25mg/l) for two periods (24 96h). performed as 3 replicates, Cd accumulation different organs determined. This showed that effect on G. holbrooki was found to be time dependent fashion. Atomic examination Cd-content both increased significantly 502%, 167%, 168%, 146%,490%,214% muscle ,brain, liver, respectively at short-acute term treatment whereas long- this increasing 44%,82 %,170%,127%,350%,400%

A comparison of mosquito predation by the fish Pseudomugil signifier Kner and Gambusia holbrooki (Girard) in laboratory trials.
Using larval Cx. annulirostris mosquitoes, this study compared the predation rate of Pseudomugil signifer and Gambusia holbrooki for four larval instars, three prey densities, and three vegetation densities. There was no significant difference in the quantity of first, second, and third instar larvae consumed by the two fish species after 24 h. There was a significant negative relationship betw...
متن کاملGravid Spot Predicts Developmental Progress and Reproductive Output in a Livebearing Fish, Gambusia holbrooki
In most livebearing fish, the gravid spot is an excellent marker to identify brooding females, however its use to predict progress of embryonic development, brood size, timing of parturition and overall reproductive potential of populations remain unexplored. Therefore, to understand these relationships, this study quantified visual attributes (intensity and size) of the gravid spot in relation...
متن کاملPredictors of male insemination success in the mosquitofish (Gambusia holbrooki)
Identifying targets of selection is key to understanding the evolution of sexually selected behavioral and morphological traits. Many animals have coercive mating, yet little is known about whether and how mate choice operates when these are the dominant mating tactic. Here, we use multivariate selection analysis to examine the direction and shape of selection on male insemination success in th...
متن کاملThe effects of climate change on the distribution of an invasive fish in Iran: Gambusia holbrooki (Girard, 1859)
Today, invasive species are considered as one of the major threats to biodiversity and ecosystem functions. The suitable habitats of these species are expected to be expanded under the effects of future climate change hence it is likely to threaten the existence of native species. Consequently, identifying the current and potential distribution range of invasive species is essential for managem...
متن کاملInvestigation of Accumulation of Lead, Cadmium and Copper in Edible Tissue Alborz in Hydrothermal Fish
Introduction: Bioaccumulation Capacity of Heavy metals in aquatic bodies can do a serious threat to food security and public health. Therefore, in this study, the amount of lead, cadmium and copper in edible tissues of hydrothermal fish in Alborz province was determined in 2017. Materials and Methods: Twenty-one carp fish of three species were randomly selected from the Mahmoudi fishery, which ...
